Brno is a metropolis of South Moravia and it is a significant industry and business centre, a centre of many cultural institution, schools and others. It is the place of universities, museums and galleries, theatres, the Statni filfarmonie Brno (The national philharmonic in Brno) etc. As a proof of long and calorific history of Brno many significant buildings and cultural monuments have been preserved. Plenty of big names lived and worked here. The most famous are Gregor Mendel and Leos Janacek.
